The fastest way to make a new ad set is to stop making new ad sets. Point at one that already works, say "like this one", and change the two things that should differ.
Why duplication beats configuration
A blank ad set form is thirty decisions, twenty-eight of which you already made correctly last month. Copying carries them over: placements, optimisation event, bidding, the pixel, the form, the naming convention you keep forgetting. What is left is the part you actually wanted to change.
Where the choice matters, Lia asks rather than guessing, and the options are your real ad sets with their real budgets.
What arrives
A card with the exact diff: which template, what changed, what stayed. Born paused, so the copy does not start spending while you are still reading it. Activation is a separate confirm.
Naming is not cosmetic
Meta will fill an ad's creative name with the first line of its body text if you do not set one. Three months later your reports are a wall of half-sentences. Decide a convention now: what it is, where it came from, when it started. Anything readable beats what the platform picks for you.
Duplicating a winner into a new audience is safer than editing the winner. The original keeps its learning; the copy takes the risk.
A weekly rhythm that works
- Read the creative report, by CPL.
- Duplicate the best performer into one new audience.
- Leave the original alone.
- Put a protective rule on the copy before it runs.
- Write one line in Relay saying what you expect to happen.
The fifth step is the one everyone skips and the one that makes the next month readable.
